Comment: start of school holidays means big traffic peak
Today, motorists are being warned to expect traffic mayhem on 'Frantic Friday' as the school holiday getaway begins.
Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com, says:
"A warning to drivers – be prepared for frantic Friday. There will be a surge in traffic as schools break up for the summer and families up and down the country make the most of the first weekend of the holidays. Follow the lead of one in four (27%) drivers who leave extra early or slightly later to avoid peak periods.
“Drivers should be vigilant and check journey times before venturing out. On the bright side, once this weekend is over many drivers will see their daily commute cut down significantly.”
