Ban petrol and diesel car sales by 2032, urge MPs
MPs have today urged the UK Government to bring forward the 2040 ban of new petrol and diesel cars to 2032. Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com says:
“Our expert report shows 59% of drivers said they were put off by the eye-watering price tags of electric cars and 73% are discouraged by a lack of charging points.
“It is clear more incentives are needed for motorists to adopt electric vehicles and our report suggests they should become more affordable by 2025. Hopefully today’s warning will encourage the government to do more to bring down the cost of buying an electric car sooner, as the high cost of the initial outlay is holding people back from adopting greener technology.
“Not only this, but improving the infrastructure and making more charging points available will clear the way for electric vehicles and help to achieve the goal of 0% emission roads sooner.”
