COMMENT/ INTERVIEW: QUEENSFERRY CROSSING OPENING TOMORROW
This Wednesday will see the opening of the new Queensferry Crossing, which will offer drivers an alternative route between Edinburgh and Fife. Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com, discusses how the new crossing will benefit drivers in the region:
“Drivers and commuters in the region will be relieved the impressive Queensferry Crossing is now opening. Over the past couple of years, those using the Forth Road Bridge have faced many closures and delays due to extensive maintenance works. The opening of the new Queensferry crossing will ease the burden of traffic and will be more reliable for drivers on their daily journeys.
“The new crossing has been designed to protect the bridge from the effects of wind. This will hopefully prevent any weather-related closures which used to cause motorists to have to take alternative routes and tailbacks as long as 11 miles.
“No doubt motorists in the region are very much looking forward to quicker, easier and cheaper journeys, especially once it receives motorway status.”
