COMMENT: New London T-Charge comes into effect from today
A new London traffic charge for mainly pre-2006 petrol and diesel cars, called the “T Charge”, comes into force today. Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com discusses how this will impact drivers:
“Drivers are yet again being slammed with even more motoring costs and price increases. The new T charge is set to sting thousands of drivers by almost doubling the cost to enter Central London. It will now cost many drivers who have to commute into London for work every day over £100 per week.
“While many drivers support initiatives to improve the UK’s poor air quality, the cost is likely to frustrate motorists who are fed up with bearing the brunt of these costs.
“Drivers would welcome any initiatives to reduce these costs, including the nationwide scrappage scheme, which could make it cheaper and easier for motorists with older cars to avoid the hefty costs. We encourage all drivers to shop around at Confused.com to minimise motoring costs where possible.”
