COMMENT: UK PETROL PRICES SOAR TO 3 YEAR HIGH
UK petrol prices have risen to a three-year high. Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com responds. She says:
“We can’t blame drivers for resenting the fact they are now paying the highest prices for petrol since December 2014. Motorists are fed up of seeing the cost of owning and running a car go up every year, including the cost of car insurance and road tax.
“Our fuel price index shows that drivers now have to pay an average of £68.88 to fill up their car with petrol, and this hefty sum could continue to rise over the year.
“The main thing drivers can do to steer away from rising fuel prices is to research the cheapest place to fill up in their local area, which they can do using Confused.com’s petrol prices tool. Drivers should also try and drive more resourcefully, including driving at slower speeds, accelerating gradually, avoiding over-revving as and using a higher gear.”
