INTERVIEW/ COMMENT: FIFTH CONSECUTIVE MONTH OF FALLING CAR SALES
Following the release of new 67 plates last week and today’s announcement that UK car sales are down for the fifth consecutive month, Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com explains what this means for buyers:
“While the latest figures show new car sales are softening, prospective buyers should realise that this actually means there will be some unprecedented deals to be had as manufacturers and dealers push their new stock to stimulate the market. The release of new 67 plates last week, will also encourage dealers to lower their prices in favour of attractive deals.
“September, in particular, is going to be a key time for car buyers looking for a bargain with potentially even bigger discounts than those we saw the same time last year. As ever, the end of the year will also be a critical time for buyers looking to cash in on a sales-driven market, and brand agnostic customers will be in the best position to get a good deal.
“Even though keen car buyers may find themselves dazzled by these discounts, it’s important to avoid making a snap decision. We’d encourage drivers to do their research and compare online, such as via Confused.com’s car buying service, to ensure they really are getting the best deal available.”
