INTERVIEW/ COMMENT: Warning to drivers as winds reach 62mph in parts of UK
With winds as strong as 60mph expected to hit the UK over the next few days, Amanda Stretton, motoring editor at Confused.com advises how drivers can prepare.
“With predictions of high winds hitting the UK this week, we’re urging motorists to take extra care when driving and plan ahead to deal with the severe weather. Drivers should aim to leave home slightly earlier to ensure that they don’t encounter further rush hour disruption.
“As we all know, weather can be unpredictable and turn quickly, so if you do have to travel it’s very important to keep your speed down and make sure there’s enough distance between you and other vehicles.
“Being more vigilant in bad conditions will help drivers avoid a breakdown and more importantly any accidents which could result in increased premiums. And drivers who might need to claim for weather damage, should be aware that they will only be covered with a comprehensive insurance policy, and not third party or third party, fire and theft (TPFP) policies.”
