**IAAF council 'could not have been unaware' of doping in athletics**
Edward Carder, sports lawyer and anti-doping expert at Mishcon de Reya calls for better transparency and accountability
Edward Carder, sports lawyer and anti-doping expert at Mishcon de Reya said:
"The findings in the second WADA independent commission report demonstrate again that inadequate governance is probably the greatest risk to the integrity and future of sport. An absence of effective governance processes undermines the proper enforcement of the rules and therefore the fight against doping and corruption.
Without better transparency and accountability, corruption will persist at the highest levels. More widespread adoption of best practice in sports governance is needed."
