Edward Carder, sports lawyer and anti-doping expert at Mishcon de Reya says:

Following the leaked IAAF doping files, Ed Carder, sports lawyer and anti-doping expert at Mishcon de Reya, commented on the rebuttal response from the IAAF yesterday afternoon and Lord Coe's defence of the IAAF's doping programme this morning:

Whilst the blood test results analysed by ARD and the Sunday Times are not proof of doping in themselves - the blood parameters monitored by the Athlete Biological Passport were not used for anti-doping tests by the IAAF until 2009 - the overall effect still leaves a lack of clarity.

If it is the case that WADA has access to the IAAF database, as suggested by the IAAF, and WADA has received the Sunday Times/ARD data, it should be possible for WADA to confirm whether it is the same data, previously analysed in the journal Clinical Chemistry, as the IAAF suggests. This would go some way to improve transparency around these allegations.
