A London mother-of-two who set-up the cult Facebook group The Restaurant Club, for discerning foodies, today launches a capital-wide loyalty scheme to help support independent restaurants and cafes across London.

Backed up by the 8,500 self-proclaimed food critics on The Restaurant Club group, Louisa Walters will be seeking to help reverse the growing trend of restaurants closing within a year of setting up in the capital. With rental prices and business rates higher than ever in London, it is estimated that over 60% of independently-owned restaurants will close within a year of opening.

Nearly 100 local eateries including the award winning Parlour in Kensal Rise, celebrity favourite and doggy-friendly Greenberry Café in Primrose Hill and London’s first cashless café Sweet Things in Notting Hill have joined the Club, hoping to reach thousands of Londoners and keep their businesses thriving. 

The High Street is under more threat than ever and the Club will be lobbying against the chains to encourage Londoners to support their local High Street.

Celebrities including supermodel mum and daughter Pearl and Daisy Lowe have already expressed their support, turning to the group for honest dining advice.

The Restaurant Club group receives up to 500 posts and ‘likes’ every day with Londoners sharing pictures of their delights, reviewing the good and the bad, and even sharing last-minute table bookings to ensure that restaurant reservations are kept.  Even restaurateurs are posting on the Club to get feedback and share their news. 

From Monday 25th April, Londoners will be able to buy The Restaurant Club loyalty card for just £30. This entitles them to a whole year of exclusive discounts and offers at all the restaurants and cafes that have joined the scheme.
