Beckham's First Coach in Disbelief as David Misses out on the Olympics

Stuart Underwood was the manager and coach of David Beckham’s local youth team where he played from aged 8 to 16 before going to Manchester United.

He says he can't believe David hasn't been picked after helping Britain win the bid back in 2005.

Beckham’s talents were first spotted after Stuart placed an ad in the local newspaper to try to find young talented schoolboy footballers.

Even after Beckham had been snapped by Manchester United he still returned to play for Ridgeway Rovers on a Sunday.

Ridgeway Rovers produced 5 professional footballers under Stuart, and Beckham has waxed lyrical about Stuart’s role in his rise to stardom, but Underwood says that Beckham’s attitude and commitment showed that he was a future star.
